I got my sample and right away I thought the card was cute and reminded me of a sweet innocent young girl trying perfume for the first time. Though, this is not my first perfume and I’m no longer a young innocent girl, lol, this was pretty much what I expected from Songes. Actually, I wasn’t too far off once I smelled it for the first time. Songes reminded me of a friend I had in high school who would borrow her mother’s perfume and bring it to school for all the girls to try. At first it was so nice, but after all my friends smelling the same, I got sick of it.
For me, Annick Goutal’s Songes is sweet floral scent with a hint of vanilla mixed in. At first, it was nice and brought back some pleasant memories but it quickly turns into a straight up floral fragrance with little or no hints of anything else. It made me feel much older than I already do, and that’s a horrible feeling for me, lol.
Another thing Songes reminded me of is a bar of soap 🙁 . That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but as a perfume it’s just not my thing. I remember my grandma used to have this special scented soap in her bathroom during special occasions and this smelled just like it. And those occasions, unfortunately, carry bad memories for me…
I’m sure there are lots of people out there that might really enjoy this free sample of Annick Goutal Songes EDT but for me, I did not care for it. It just seemed to bring up mixed emotions and memories, something I don’t want in a perfume.
